KASSÁK jacket

The experimental type was inspired by Lajos Kassák.
Presented in a jacket as a new medium possibility in graphic design.

The jacket was created in the spirit of constructivism and the work of Lajos Kassák, Hungarian artist (1887-1967).
It is an experiment, reflecting on topics that were essential in Kassák’s work. One of the purposes of the design was to communicate the thoughts of an artist from the 20th century in a modern form making it relevant today. Printing Kassák’s poem on a jacket used as the medium works within the concept of approaching people in an unconventional way.
As constructivists often used unusual combinations of different materials, this coat was made out of Tyvek, a fabric rarely selected for this purpose. Tyvek is a recyclable material that is also waterproof and well ventilated. The letterforms aim to combine in themselves the constructivist shapes and the current directions of modern typography.
Further on in the future, we are planning to work on this project by printing more types of letter designs on clothing.
It would be a perfect occasion to collaborate with type designers and bring more typographic designs into fashion.
